A whimsical and charming story about Donkey, who struggles to express his feelings with words but finds a unique voice through stomping. Through simple, rhythmic narration and vivid animal characters, the tale explores emotions and communication in a playful way suitable for young children.
Long ago, Donkey had trouble saying how he felt.
When he was sad—he froze. When he was worried—he mumbled. But when he was *angry*…
He STOMPED.
“Don’t take my snacks!” *STOMP!* “Don’t mess my hay!” *STOMP! STOMP!*
“Why don’t you *say* what’s wrong?” asked Owl.
“I... I...” *STOMP!*
He tried to explain. He got flustered. Words tangled. Ears twisted. *STOMP STOMP STOMP!*
One day, Monkey tripped over his tail.
Donkey’s eyes twitched. He raised a hoof.
*STOMP.* *STOMP–STOMP.* *STOMP–STOMP–STOMP!*
Flamingo blinked. “Is... is he tap dancing?”
“No,” said Owl, “he’s donkey mad.”
The forest grew quiet. Everyone listened.
Donkey stomped in patterns. *Slow… fast… pause…* Each stomp had a feeling.
He found his rhythm. His *foot* became his voice.
Soon, the animals knew the language of stomps.
From that day on, Donkey stomped when angry—but also when serious, silly, or *super proud.*
And that’s why donkeys stomp when angry—because when words don’t work, hooves can talk.
(*But just so you know—this tale is just for fun. Real donkeys stomp for all sorts of reasons, not emotional poetry!*)
