A Witch had raised Rapunzel there, saying, “You are safe with me alone.” Years passed, and Rapunzel sang to the birds through the window, a song that floated like light over the trees.w.
One day, a young Prince rode beneath the tower. The Prince heard the soft, hopeful song and stopped to listen. “Who sings up there?” the Prince wondered.
Next evening the Prince hid among the trees and watched the tower. The Witch called, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” Golden braids fell like a shining rope, and the Witch climbed up the wall.
The Prince waited until the Witch left the tower. Then the Prince tried the same call: “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!” Down the braid came, and up the Prince went, heart thumping hard.
Rapunzel gasped at the stranger but saw kindness in the Prince’s eyes. She listened to the Prince’s gentle voice by the glow of a small lamp. Each word felt like fresh air through a long-closed window.
The Prince visited in secret, bringing ribbons and stories of the world beyond the trees. Rapunzel’s eyes sparkled at every tale of towns, markets, and open roads. “Someday,” Rapunzel whispered, “I want to see those places with my own eyes.”
But one morning, the Witch appeared early. “Who has been here?” the Witch hissed, glancing around the room. Rapunzel trembled, unable to hide the truth in her face.
The Witch’s anger rose like a storm. The Witch cut Rapunzel’s hair in one sharp snip; golden strands fell like broken sunlight. “Now you will learn,” the Witch said, and carried Rapunzel to a far desert plain.
That night, When the Prince called, the braid dropped as before. He climbed—only to face the Witch's icy stare. "Lost?" she hissed. In terror, he stumbled back, tumbling into the thorny forest below. Thorns tore at his eyes, swallowing the world in darkness.
Time drifted slowly. Rapunzel lived quietly in the lonely desert, singing as she gathered water and herbs. Her song was softer now, but still full of hope.
One day, Rapunzel heard a voice calling her name through the wind. Rapunzel turned and saw the Prince wandering, guided only by sound. Rapunzel ran to the Prince, tears shining on her cheeks.
When Rapunzel’s tears touched the Prince’s eyes, the darkness faded. The Prince opened his eyes and saw Rapunzel—the golden hair beginning to grow, the sky wide above them. They laughed together, hearts as light as birds.
Rapunzel and the Prince returned to the kingdom and planted a garden full of roses and sunflowers. Rapunzel’s hair grew long again, bright under the sun, free in the wind. Every evening, Rapunzel sang—not for rescue anymore, but for joy.
