جزئیات داستان

It was a sunny day on the farm. Max is meeting his friends: Harry the horse, Ollie the ostrich, Greta the goat, and Chelsea the chicken. They all gather to discuss who is the fastest animal on the farm.

Max proposes a race to determine who is the fastest. But this will not be an ordinary race! It is a special obstacle race all the way around the farm! The friends excitedly agree and gather at the starting line, each boasting about their speed.

The friends line up and their excitement builds as they prepare to race. Max takes a deep breath, ready to give it his all. “Three, two, one, go!” Chelsea the chicken shouts and they all take off!

The first part of the race is through long grass but it is impossible to run with grass this tall! Max and his friends walk as fast as they can. Ollie the Ostrich takes the lead, his long legs helping him to take giant steps through the long grass.

Next the friends run through the barn but it isn’t going to be easy! Bags of corn and buckets of carrots are stored inside. Greta the goat moves into first place as she easily jumps over the bags and buckets with her nimble hooves.

After they exit the barn, the friends have to hop around the tree. Bunny hops are one of Max’s favourite actions! He speedily hops across the grass and circles around the tree, with Harry, Olive and Greta right behind him.

The final obstacle of the race in sight! The friends have to jump over the wooden pen to reach the finish line. Max quickly hops ahead, but Harry and Greta gallop past him, showing off their long strides. Ollie the ostrich runs surprisingly fast, flapping his wings for extra speed. In last place is Chelsea, walking as fast as she can.

Harry reaches the wooden pen first and jumps over the fence, but he doesn’t see the muddy puddle on the other side until it is too late! Splash! Harry falls into the puddle just as Greta jumps over the pen. Splash! She lands right on top of Harry!

Ollie is next to jump over the wooden pen. Splash! He lands in the puddle sending mud flying everywhere! Then, before they can stop him, Max hops over the fence! Splash!

Max, Ollie, Harry and Greta stare at each other’s muddy faces and burst out laughing. It is funny to see each other sitting there with mud all over them! They hear Chelsea getting ready to jump over the wooden pen. She takes a run up and flaps her wings trying to jump as high as possible.

Chelsea jumps! Max quickly stands up and catches Chelsea before she lands in the mud! Everyone cheers at Max’s fantastic catch! Chelsea was not the fastest animal, but with Max’s help she is now the cleanest!

Instead of declaring a winner, the five friends celebrate the fun they had racing around the farm. They realise that speed isn’t everything and helping each other is what truly matters. They all agree that next time they will check for puddles before starting the race!
