In the red barn, before sunrise— Tap, tap, tap. Outside, the rooster stirred, but this sound came first.

The hens pecked the table. One beak brushed a shiny key. Tap, tap, tap. Peep!

Mice peeked out from the haystack. One tiny paw pressed the space bar. Tap, tap, tap. Squeak!

The tapping grew louder, echoing through the barn doors. “Who’s typing?” asked Farmer Jo, stepping in. No one answered—just tap, tap, tap.

On the desk sat a letter, fresh and neat. “More corn, please!” it read. The hens clucked and shuffled, pretending not to notice.

Jo scratched his head. “Corn? Signed… ‘The Coop Crew’?” His eyebrow arched higher than ever.

Next morning—tap, tap, tap. Another paper slid out. “More straw in the nest boxes.” The hens gathered close, eyes wide with hope.

But someone else had noticed the letters too. The goat nosed a corner of paper. Chomp! The typewriter rattled in protest.

Tap, tap, tap. Tap-tap-tap! “Don’t let Goat eat our letters!” The goat stood guilty, paper hanging from its mouth.

Jo rubbed his eyes, then burst out laughing. He laughed so hard, his straw hat fell. “You rascals,” he said kindly.

The animals froze, tails and feathers still. Even the horse stepped closer, his ears flicking. All eyes looked at Farmer Jo.

Jo stacked fresh corn cobs. He spread extra straw in the nest boxes. The horse nudged a bucket, and Jo filled it with water too.

The typewriter keys lay quiet. No more tapping—just content clucks, soft whinnies, and the rustle of mice in the hay.

That evening, Jo placed a new note on the desk: “You’re welcome, Farm Friends.” His smile lingered in the quiet barn.

The barn glowed with purple dusk. A final shuffle of paper—tap, tap, tap. “Good night,” wrote a tiny paw. The mouse sat proudly on the key, whiskers twitching.
