It was a sunny day, and Max was playing at the playground with his family. “Time for lunch!” his mum, Mia, announced.

But Max wasn’t hungry yet, so he set his cheese sandwich down on the picnic blanket, planning to eat it later. “I’ll eat it after I play some more!” Max said, running to the sandpit.

Max played and laughed with his sister Lily, but soon his tummy rumbled. He ran back to the picnic blanket, but his cheese sandwich was gone! “Hey! Where’s my sandwich?”

Nearby, a figure in a hooded jacket moved suspiciously up into the playhouse. “That looks strange," thought Max. “He might have committed the crime of sandwich stealing! This is a job for Policeman Max!”

He put on his special hat and badge. Policeman Max was now ready to go ask the suspect some questions.

Max climbed up the ladder of the playhouse, but just as he reached the top the mysterious figure slid down the slide! Max quickly followed, sliding down with a whoosh.

“Stop! Police! Bring me back my sandwich!” Max yelled after him.

The figure ran to the right of the merry-go-round. Max stayed close behind, running around the spinning ride. “Bring me back my cheese sandwich!”

Max shouted, but the figure kept running, jumping over a bouncy ball.

Max’s legs were tired, but he didn’t stop. He jumped over the bouncy ball and chased the suspect all the way to the swing set.

The sandwich thief was sitting on the swing as Max ran up from behind. “Gotcha!” Max cried!

The hooded figure turned around with surprise. It wasn’t a stranger at all. It was his brother! “Tom!” Max said, shocked. “It was you who took my cheese sandwich!”

Tom smiled sheepishly. “Oops! I didn’t realize it was yours. I was feeling hungry!" Max raised an eyebrow. “So you ate my sandwich?” Tom nodded. “Yeah, sorry about that!”

Max laughed. “It’s okay. But next time, don’t take food that’s not yours! How about we share another sandwich?” Tom’s eyes lit up. “You’ll share with me?” Max grinned. “Of course! Let’s enjoy one together.”

The two brothers shared a new cheese sandwich and then ran off to play. It was a perfect day at the playground, full of fun, laughter and delicious cheese sandwiches.
