Detective Max hops through town to solve a mystery! Signs in the town have their letters all jumbled! With his magnifying glass, he investigates while readers guess the missing letters. This playful story shows children how changing beginning or ending letters can create new CVC words.
Detective Max hopped into town and looked around. “Oh dear! The letters on the signs have been jumbled up.” Max pulled out his magnifying glass. “They have the wrong beginning or ending letter. Time for me to investigate!”
Max spotted the first sign. It said 'Bug Stop.' He scratched his head. “Do bugs wait here?”
Max grinned. “Of course not! It should be the Bus Stop!” He fixed the jumbled letter on the sign.
At the corner of the street, Max saw another sign. It read 'Gap Station.' He twitched his nose. "Can you get fuel for a car at a gap station?”
Max chuckled. “Of course not! It should say Gas Station!” He put the s back into place on the sign.
Max hopped down the street. He saw a sign that said 'Peg Shop.' He tilted his ears. “Do they sell clothes pegs here?”
Max looked in the window and smiled. “Not pegs! Pets! This is the Pet Shop!” He quickly fixed the letter.
Next, Max saw the 'Ham Shop.' He laughed. “Do you put a ham on your head?”
He shook his head. “It must be a Hat Shop!” Max fixed the jumbled letter.
Max went to the park and saw another sign. It said 'Log Park.' He frowned. “Do logs wag their tails and fetch balls?”
Max hopped closer. “Of course not! This is the Dog Park!” He fixed the letter with a smile.
“I have fixed every jumbled sign in town,” said Max. “Another case closed!” The other rabbits clapped and cheered. "Thank you Detective Max!"
